Richard Sampson - Head Coach / Tennis Director
Richard is a Tennis Australia qualified advanced coach, has a Bachelor of Science, Grad Dip Dietetics and 20 years international playing and coaching experience. He played on the international satellite tour in Europe and Australia, was 2004 and 2010 WA state league MVP and is a former winner of various WA state tournaments. Richard began his coaching career in Perth before heading to Austria & Germany to further his experience. Now head coach at Sorrento Tennis Club, WA’s biggest hard-court club, he has twice won the WA coaching ‘club excellence award’ in 2010 & 2019, from promoting the game at beginner level to producing elite state juniors. More recently Richard represented Australia at the World Seniors Championships for the 40+ age group and was silver medallist in the doubles event there, holding a world number 2 ranking in 2019/20.
David Buckoski
David has been coaching with Instyle Tennis since 2012, is a Club Professional qualified coach and has had an extensive playing career. David trained at the Saddlebrook Academy in Florida and has a Diploma of Education. David is currently the Sorrento Tennis Club Junior Coordinator and has served on the club committee since 2017.
Lucie Frazer
Lucie has been with Instyle Tennis for 3 years now, and has become such a great asset as a coach to all kids and adults alike. She also has an administration role. Lucie is a Club Development qualified coach and her interests are hiking, camping, CrossFit and anything outdoors! She is also a qualified chef and treats the coaching staff to some mean desserts when we are lucky!
Brenton Bacon
Brenton has been coaching with Instyle Tennis since 2021 after an extensive playing and coaching career. Brenton is a Club Professional qualified coach and has trained professional players such as Henri Kontinen during his 2018 Australian Open doubles victory with John Peers. He was one of WA’s best players for a number of years, winning State League titles and representing WA in numerous state teams.
Blake Prentice
After playing state juniors at Sorrento TC growing up, Blake moved to Munich, Germany and now has 25 years coaching experience in Australia & Europe, where he founded Blake academy which he was managing director from 2017-2022 before returning to Perth. Blake loves surfing, playing guitar and running his twin boys around the footy field. It’s been great to have Blake join the coaching team and his sense of humour always makes for an entertaining arvo on the court!
Michael Faulkner
Mike has been coaching with Instyle since 2017, and is a current WA State League player. and WA Open semi-finalist in 2023. He has travelled throughout Europe competing in 2022 and is currently completing his degree in finance. Known for having one of the biggest serves in WA!
Davina Dunstan
Davina has been coaching since 2018 and was an elite junior player and has continued playing pennants for Sorrento TC since. Davina is a welcomed addition to the coaching team and a very respected member of Sorrento Tennis Club.
Jeremy Saunders
Jeremy played as a junior at Sorrento TC before heading off to the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy for 2 years between 2017-18. He has since split his time between travelling overseas for training and tournaments, and coaching. Jeremy has played State League in Perth and all the kids love his friendly teaching style.
Carlo Piva
Carlo Piva has been coaching since 2006 and is currently away studying Psychology in Amsterdam. Carlo is a qualified level 2 club professional and junior development coach as well a qualified PE teacher. We look forward to Carlo returning to teach with Instyle Tennis again in 2026
Rylan Reid
Lucas Felton
Lucas is currently Sorrento Tennis Club best junior player, having won the club junior championships in 2022 and 2023. He not only excels at tennis but also AFL football and golf. Lucas has recently started as an assistant coach but also a hitting partner for the club’s better younger players who all look up to him and his guidance.
